A family of integration products that interconnects geographic information systems (GIS) document management systems (DMS), and database systems (DMS), and database management systems (DBMS), IDM for ESRI GIS helps meet the ever growing demand for better access to information. The Laserfiche components of the product suite bring the power of Laserfiche document imaging to ESRI GIS users in both Web and desktop environments.

Developed by GIS Technology, Inc. (GTI) and presented by ECS Imaging, Inc. IDM for ESRI GIS:
  • Provides a bi-directional connection between GIS features and documents, enabling users to locate documents by querying the
GIS or to locate map features by querying the DMS.
  • Supports Laserfiche Desktop and WebLink.
  • Integrates and OLE DB database with the GIS and DMS
  • Users a powerful Link Engine to interconnect map layers, documents,
    and tables through schema relationships
Better Access to Information
  • Police and Fire personnel responding to a 911-call use the GIS to locate the call and determine the fastest route, then examine floor plans and photographs of the building.
  • A surveyor researching a new job uses a map display to indicate the location of his project and is immediately presented with existing corner records, records of survey, notes and other documents that might otherwise have taken hours to find
  • A crime analyst queries the document management system for crime reports that match certain criteria, and creates a map display to analyze their spatial distribution.
  • A building inspector examining a case record links to related permit records and inspection documents and locates the case on the map.
  • A county worker retrieves documents that contain references to a particular project, and then generates a map display of the project location. Having found the project area, he then queries the DMS for geo-registered images in the same area and displays them on the GIS canvass.
  • A citizen visits a web site displaying a map of upcoming zoning issues and retrieves documents related to issues in his neighborhood.

  • ECS and GTI have partnered to provide the Laserfiche modules of IDM for ESRI GIS.

    Laserfiche Desktop Connector

The Laserfiche desktop connector enables Laserfiche users to find tabular records and/or GIS features in ArcMap or ArcGIS Engine applications related to documents of interest. Conversely, it responds to requests from other connectors to find documents related to records and/or map features of interest. Users can save selected documents in multiple working sets which can be combined using set operations. GIS features and/or tabular records that are related to documents of interest can be selected in the ArcGIS and Table connectors.
